State Of The Church

Dear Grace Canton Family,

September is upon us! That means the first week of school has started, and fall is in the air! Before I highlight some things for this fall, I want to take a moment to look back at a few SUMMER HIGHLIGHTS:

New Staff: We said "hello" to Amanda Lawyer, who stepped into the role of Children's Director, allowing Jen Heers to step into her areas of strength in providing administration for the children and youth ministries.

Bill Barber also stepped into the role of interim Campus Pastor while we completed our search for a new Campus Pastor.

Sunday Attendance: We had our highest summer attendance to date in August, during a time when many people are away on vacation.

Youth Mission Trip: In July, we sent 30 kids and adults for a week to serve the people, neighborhoods, and communities of Charleston, West Virginia.

Community Fun Day:

Our building was full on the last Sunday of August as we invited our friends and neighbors to join us for worship, a terrific meal, inflatables and games. Several first-time guests attended, and some of them returned for our service last weekend. We're planning for this to be an annual event!

And just a few things to note for the beginning of this FALL SEASON:

Sermon Series: This Sunday, we'll be starting a new teaching series called "Jesus > Religion" which will be a great reminder that Jesus is greater than trying harder, doing more, and being good enough. It's also a great opportunity to invite friends to hear the gospel!

Campus Pastor Candidate: We'll also be welcoming our Campus Pastor Candidate, Zach Stamp. Zach is not only the lead pastor of a growing church in Cincinnati, but the primary candidate for the campus pastor position at Grace Canton. He and his wife, Kelly, along with their two children, Madelynne (7) and Jackson (5) will be here on September 10 to worship with us and to meet the congregation as part of our ongoing discernment process.

New DesignAfter eight years of our original design, we thought it was time to retire the old, black-and-white distressed G logo for something that gave us a cleaner look with a bit more color.

Get the Word Out: To go along with our new look and design, there will be road signs available for you to place on your lawn.

Now, I know the average person won't look at these and automatically think, "I think I'll go check out that church this Sunday." So that's where you come in! It's meant to raise awareness in our community so it makes it that much easier for you to invite your friends, neighbors, and co-workers to hear the good news of Jesus!

I’m really excited for this upcoming season of ministry at Grace. Thank you so much for "being the church"!
